FUN FACT -- Barry Manilow's Irish Heritage: Harold Kelliher’s Son

  1. Hidden Roots: Barry was born Barry Alan Pincus in Brooklyn. His father was Harold Kelliher, a truck driver of Irish descent.

  2. Name Change: Because of family tension surrounding his mother’s marriage to an Irishman, his name was changed to Pincus (a Jewish relative's name) shortly after birth to better reflect his mother’s Russian-Jewish heritage

  3. Limerick Ancestry: Barry’s Irish roots trace specifically back to Limerick, Ireland. He has since embraced this side of his identity, once famously performing "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" in Dublin.
